Ethan grew up playing water polo in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, carrying on a family tradition as a second‑generation water polo player at ʻIolani School. As a youth athlete, he competed at Junior Olympics with Bay Area powerhouse San Jose Express, gaining early exposure to high‑level mainland competition.

He was later recruited to play Division I water polo at San Jose State University, where he developed a deeper understanding of the game and earned valuable collegiate experience. Most recently, Ethan competed for OC Riptide in USA Water Polo’s premier National League, training alongside top athletes from across the country.

In addition to leading 808 Water Polo, Ethan also coaches at Punahou School, working with athletes from 10U through High School. His coaching style blends high‑level experience with patience, structure, and genuine care for each athlete’s development. Parents appreciate that he brings both competitive insight and a strong commitment to building confident, well‑rounded players.

Coach Ethan is passionate about growing water polo in Hawaiʻi, creating more opportunities for local athletes, and mentoring the next generation of Hawaiʻi water polo players.

Alex grew up playing water polo in the Sacramento area for California Republic Water Polo Club and his local high school, Ponderosa High.  After high school, he committed to California Lutheran university, but a shoulder injury brought him back to his hometown, where he began coaching.  Alex has coached with California Republic Water Polo Club (12U and 14U Head Coach) and Granite Bay High School (JV Boys Head Coach).  He brings a plethora of knowledge and skills to the program!

Abbey grew up in Roseville, California, where she was introduced to water polo 13 years ago at the age of 7.  She played for her high school team, local club teams, and ODP teams until she graduated.  After High School, Abbey went on to attend Biola University to play D2 collegiate water polo.  After sustaining an injury, she moved back to her hometown and began coaching.  Abbey has coached for California Republic Water Polo (12U co-ed and 14U girls), and Granite Bay High School (JV girls).  Abbey brings a wealth of knowledge to our club!
